# BOLOs, Greaseboard, and Wrecker Rotation in Cadmus

> Broadcast BOLOs to field units, maintain the operational greaseboard for shift pass-on, manage wrecker rotation, and view static agency resources.

Cadmus centralizes your agency's operational awareness tools in one place — broadcast Be On the Lookout notices to all field units instantly, keep the greaseboard current for shift pass-on, manage wrecker rotation assignments, and reference static agency resources like utilities and emergency contacts without switching applications.

## Create a BOLO

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the BOLO dialog">
    Click the **BOLO** button in the header to open the **Broadcast New BOLO** dialog.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter subject information">

    Complete the **Vehicle Information** section if the BOLO involves a vehicle. Include make, model, color, plate, and any distinguishing characteristics.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Attach an image (optional)">
    Click **Select Image** to attach a photo. Images help field units make visual identifications. If the BOLO text saves but the photo upload fails, Cadmus shows an orange warning — open the BOLO and use **EDIT** to retry the image.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Broadcast the BOLO">
    Click **Broadcast BOLO** to publish the notice immediately to all field units.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  BOLO images may contain sensitive or graphic content. Follow your agency's dissemination policy before attaching or broadcasting images to field units.
</Warning>

## BOLOs Dashboard Tab

After broadcasting, manage active BOLOs from the **BOLOs** tab on the main dashboard.

* The tab displays a list of all currently active BOLOs.
* Click **Refresh** to reload the list and confirm your new broadcast appears.
* Click any BOLO to open its **BOLO Details** panel, where you can:
  * **EDIT** — update subject or vehicle information.
  * **DISMISS** — acknowledge the BOLO without canceling it.
  * **CANCEL BOLO** — remove the BOLO from field visibility immediately.

<Warning>
  Canceling an active BOLO removes it from field unit displays immediately. Confirm with a supervisor before canceling a BOLO that may still be operationally relevant.
</Warning>

<Tip>
  Refresh the BOLOs tab after broadcasting to verify the notice appears in the active list before moving on to other tasks.

## Operational Greaseboard

The operational greaseboard is your agency's shared shift-to-shift information board. Access it from **Resources** tab → **Operational Board**.

Items are organized into categories for quick scanning:

| Category             | Purpose                                                |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Daily Operations** | Standing orders and routine operational notes |
| **Burn Permits** | Active burn permit information for the jurisdiction |
| **Repos** | Vehicle repossession orders and hold notices |
| **Hazards** | Road, environmental, or structural hazards in the area |
| **Wrecker Notes** | Wrecker-specific instructions or callout notes |
| **Shift Pass-On** | Notes and handoff items for the incoming shift |

**Pinned Alerts** appear at the top of the board regardless of category, ensuring critical information is always visible to every dispatcher.

### Add or Edit Greaseboard Items

</Tip>

## Unit Greaseboard

For a live grid view of all logged-in units and their current assignments, press **F5** to open the **Unit Greaseboard**. This view is separate from the operational greaseboard and reflects real-time unit status rather than shift notes.

## Wrecker Rotation

Manage agency-wide wrecker callouts from **Resources** tab → **Wrecker Rotation**.

The **Wrecker Rotation (Agency-Wide)** panel lists available wreckers in rotation order. Use the filter buttons to narrow the list:

<CardGroup cols={3}>
  <Card title="All Wreckers" icon="truck-tow">
    Displays every wrecker on the rotation regardless of capacity type.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Standard Only" icon="car">
    Filters to passenger vehicle and light-duty wreckers.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Heavy Duty Only" icon="truck">
    Filters to heavy-duty and commercial vehicle wreckers.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

<Note>
  If your agency's SOP requires documenting wrecker rotation changes, record the callout in the shift log at the time of dispatch.
</Note>

## Static Reference Sections

The **Resources** tab also provides read-only reference panels that your agency administrator populates:

* **Utilities** — contact numbers and procedures for local utility companies.
* **Emergency Contacts** — key agency and mutual-aid contacts for critical incidents.

These sections do not require updates during a shift and serve as a quick reference without leaving the dispatch console.
