# Training mode

> Training Mode lets officers practice MDT features with mock data without affecting real citations, NCIC submissions, or similar records.

Training Mode lets officers practice MDT features with mock data without affecting real citations, NCIC submissions, or similar records.

## Activating training mode

1. Open **Settings**.
2. Find **ROOKIE / TRAINING MODE**.
3. Tap **ENABLE SANDBOX**.
4. Enter the Supervisor PIN (default training PIN: `0000`).
5. Training mode is now active.

## What changes

**Visual indicators:**

* Orange banner: **TRAINING MODE - MOCK DATA ACTIVE**
* Simulated data for training modules
* No real submissions or transmissions from training modules

**Module behavior (typical):**

* **NCIC**: Mock search results
* **E-Tickets**: Preview only — nothing printed or transmitted
* **FIR**: Saved in memory only (live mode stores drafts and submissions on the server)
* **Unit calendar**: Sample events for practice (live mode loads agency Ops Calendar data)
* **BOLOs**: Session mock data
* **Chat**: Simulated messages
* **Calls/CAD**: Often **remains live** — confirm your agency SOP; many deployments keep real call data visible for context

## Deactivating training mode

1. Return to **Settings**.
2. Tap **DISABLE SANDBOX** (no PIN required to disable).
3. App returns to live mode.

## Tips

* Use training mode during academy or FTO shifts before going live on citations or NCIC.
* If your agency uses a **Sandbox organization** in admin, prefer that for full end-to-end testing instead of device-only training mode.
* Supervisors should change the default PIN if your agency policy requires it.

## Warnings

<Warning>Training mode behavior varies by module — do not assume all data is mock. Verify with your agency before relying on it for compliance testing.</Warning>

<Warning>Do not use training mode on shared devices without telling the next user — the orange banner is easy to miss if the device stays logged in.</Warning>
