Voice Alerts lets the MDT app speak important information aloud.

What it can announce

  • Incoming call alerts — When a new call is assigned to you
  • CJIS/NCIC result summaries — Person/driver and vehicle search results

Enabling voice alerts

  1. Open Settings (gear icon or menu).
  2. Find the Voice Alerts section.
  3. Turn on the toggles you want:
    • Incoming call alerts
    • CJIS result summaries

Incoming call alerts

When enabled:
  • The app announces each newly assigned call (not every call already on your list at sign-in).
  • Default phrase: “You have a call.”
  • You can change the phrase in Settings (e.g. “New call assigned”).
  • High-priority or ProQA calls may prefix Critical. before your phrase.

Assignment notifications (Android)

When incoming-call speech is off, or the app is in the background, you may receive a Call Assignments notification for new dispatches. Tap opens the app (call navigation from notification may vary by device). Allow notifications when prompted — denying permission does not block sign-in or viewing calls.

CJIS/NCIC result summaries

When enabled:
  • Person/driver searches: Speaks driver name, license status, and warrant information.
  • Vehicle searches: Speaks make/model and registration status.
  • Replay: Use the LISTEN button in the NCIC screen to hear the selected result again.

Tips

  • Use your device volume for voice alert loudness.
  • Turn off voice alerts in Settings when you need silence.
  • Keep custom call phrases short so they’re easy to hear over background noise.

Requirements

  • NCIC voice summaries require agency State/NCIC Access and your user to be authorized (configured in Web Admin).
